I am here to offer healthy choices and provide information about ways that you can improve your health. I will help you become aware of the "side effects" of some your habits and the hobbies that you enjoy (consequence sounds negative & judgmental), but I won't tell you to stop them. I won't tell you that they are bad. I won't ask you to choose between marathon running or crossfit and RE. I'm not here to convince you of anything, and I won't try to persuade you to adopt a lifestyle that doesn't suit you.
Why not? No really - why wouldn't I try to sell you on the idea that Restorative Exercise™ is the greatest thing since local, sustainable, gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, sliced bread??
Why not?? Because, geez!! Don't you get enough of that? I know I do.
And if you're going to claim to be openminded about my current lifestyle, I don't want it said like this:
"Sure, you can continue running." or "Sure, you can basically keep doing nothing."
Subtext: I will totally judge you and think less of you if you do.
I want something that says, "come as you are. I won't weigh you. I won't measure you. I won't tell you that you need to stop doing anything (or that you have to start doing anything). I just want to share some really cool ideas with you."
I like to think of Restorative Exercise™ as my contribution to the exercise pot-luck of life. The world is full of movement entrees, sides, breads and desserts. You can fill your plate with a variety of things. You don't have to take a full plate of my dish. You're welcome to try a little serving of it. If you like it - I would LOVE to share my recipe with you!
I would love to offer you a taste of RE. If you're not in the Boise area, I can refer you to someone in your area or arrange a session via Skype.
I also encourage you to listen to the Balanced Bites podcast with Katy Bowman. I feel pretty confident saying that you will hear at least one new thing (and probably a few), and that it will change the way you think about the way you are moving your body.
