I'm going to explore this a little today in terms of wellness.
THIS GREAT ARTICLE on the difference between exercise & movement.
We want to do it perfectly. If we can't - we won't do it at all.
This is why I say, "perfect is the enemy of good."
I am here to say,
"Please, tell PERFECT to STUFF IT!"
Let's create a new dialogue. Let's create a new mantra:
"Doing well will contribute to my wellness."
You may not feel that you can change your whole life to include movement, but maybe you can get into a pair of shoes that don't have a heel (and if you're a high heel person, make a slow safe transition to a lower heel first).
The diagram below shows just how much joint distortion is required
to maintain your body at 90º when you have your heel elevated.
This includes men's shoes and it absolutely includes running shoes - ANY shoe where your heel is higher than your toe.
IF you can't get into a flat shoe today, getting into a flatter shoe is a step in the right direction and YES it counts.
You do not have to be perfect. Do this one thing well, and it will contribute to your wellness.
